Sharing with you this fantastic Chinese porcelain dish. Marked and of Period Tianqi, Ming dynasty.
This piece belongs to the Kosometsuke (Ko-sometsuke) group, produced in Jingdezhen specifically for the Japanese tea ceremony market.
The dish is finely potted with a gently everted rim and decorated in underglaze cobalt blue. The central medallion depicts a sparse riverside landscape with stylised rockwork, distant trees, a small pavilion, and a solitary figure, rendered in the characteristic free, expressive brushwork associated with Kosometsuke wares. The rim is embellished with a repeating geometric border motif, contrasting beautifully with the minimalistic interior scene.
The base bears a hand-painted Tianqi reign mark (天啓年製) within double circles.
