Sharing with you this very nicely decorated kraak Ghendi

Visible in the pictures is a large Chinese blue and white Kraak porcelain kendi, also known as a ghendi, late Ming dynasty, circa 1600–1630.

The vessel has a rounded, slightly compressed body resting on a low foot, with a tall neck rising to a flanged mouth and a bulbous spout projecting from the shoulder.

Painted in underglaze cobalt blue, the body is divided into broad panels containing flowering plants, including lotus, and a stylised ornamental motif. Narrow geometric panels separate the principal designs

The shoulder is decorated with small reserved cartouches against a densely hatched ground, while elongated pointed leaves encircle the upper neck. Further floral and geometric decoration adorns the spout and mouth.
