Rare Antique Kangxi Period Chinese Porcelain DISH Wheel Engraved
Out of stock
Condition Report: 2 small chips to the rim and some fleebites to the rim. Size 106x23mm DiameterxHeight
A very nicely decorated dish, Kangxi period. At front with a blue and white floral scene. The back with engraved Batavian scene of birds and flowering branches. Absolutely amazing.
This type of engraved wares are quite uncommon. Blue and white wares with brown glaze outside, known as Batavian wares after the port in Java which was the VOC headquarters in Asia, were the common type of Chinese porcelain more usually available to the glass engraver. These Glass engravers carved the engravings with a wheel in the brown outside through the brown glaze to the white body.
