Sharing with you this beautiful Blue and White Large Dish.

The circular, heavily potted dish has in centre of the well a circular medallion containing a stylized chrysanthemum blossom. The medallion is bordered with a band of high scroll designs from which are growing two opposing pairs of peony sprays and abundant prunus blossom sprays. The rim is bordered with a band of rhomboidal latticework interspersed with oval cartouches with stylized flowers. The white under-surface of the rim is embellished with three sprays of climbing herbs. On the base is a cobalt mark in the form of a Lozenge in two concentric circles.

We also find similarly painted dishes in the Topkapi Palace, both in a smaller size, with a diameter of around 22cm, and in bigger versions similar to the present example. They have painted in the well either a chrysanthemum or a peony, the decoration of the rim is similar to the present example and the mark is often an artemisia leaf, a fungus of immortality or a stylized ritual three-legged ding vessel.The heavier porcelain body shows that the piece can be categorized amongst the older type of export porcelain that was gradually replaced from the beginning of the 18 century with a thinner, lighter form, which began to dominate production in the official kilns.
