Porcelain with underglaze blue and underglaze red decor.
Ming dynasty, Tianqi or Chongzhen period (1621-1644)
The scene is a of garden enlivened by insects with rocks in the centre and blossoms sprouts/bamboo. The edge of the plate continues the garden theme in the charming combination of underglaze blue and underglaze red decoration with the depiction of white grapes and tendrils as well as insects. Four stylized flower motifs adorn the underside.
