Sharing with you this amazing Chinese porcelain deep dish with overglaze blue, gilt, red and black. Qing period, Yongzheng, 1723-1735
We have not encountered this scene before but it seems to be a nice variation on the beautiful ladies in the garden setting. It depicts the luxurious lifestyle of the wealthy and fortunate out in the garden occupying themselves with things rich people do: playing music, drinking tea, reading, etc. Please also notice the bird in the cage on the left.
