Pair 41.5CM Antique Meiji Japanese Satsuma Heart Shaped Vases Sotheby’s
Condition Report: Vase 1 Perfect, Vase 2 with 2 chips to the base corners. Some gilt loss. Size 415mm high approx.
The large baluster shaped Japanese Satsuma earthenware vases are almost in heart shape. Decorated in typical enamels and gilt, with Kannon seated on rockwork surrounded by acolytes, the reverse with dancers performing. The sides with flowerheads upon a wave-like pattern, the foot and neck with bands of stylised motifs
