What you’ve got here is a classic decorative scene rather than a narrative story—very typical of Swatow (Zhangzhou) ware from the late Ming period.
The blue-painted animals are stylized phoenixes (fenghuang)—mythical birds in Chinese art.
You can see three phoenixes in motion, each with:

- Long flowing tail feathers
- Outstretched wings
- Dynamic, almost dancing poses
- Around them are cloud-like scroll motifs, suggesting they’re flying through the sky.
Center detail
- In the middle is a simple circular medallion with a spot inside.
- This isn’t a detailed scene element—more of a decorative or workshop mark rather than a narrative symbol.
The phoenix in Chinese symbolism represents:
