Sharing with you this beautiful pair of statues piece from the second halft of the 20th c. Very nicely crafted. Marked with a stamp on the back. In our opinion late 20th c.
One of them is Guanyin and the other one Wenchang.

Wenchang, the Daoist god of Literature, in seating position. He is wearing a long, belted robe and an official’s hat, and holding a ruyi scepter in his right hand, the other concealed within the sleeve.

Guanyin, also known as Guan Yin or Kuan Yin, is a bodhisattva in Chinese Buddhism, and is also revered in Taoism and other East Asian religions. Bodhisattvas are enlightened beings who have chosen to remain in the cycle of rebirth in order to help others attain enlightenment.

Guanyin is known as the “Goddess of Mercy” and is often depicted as a compassionate and gentle figure who hears the cries of the suffering and responds with great kindness and love. In Chinese culture, Guanyin is one of the most popular and widely worshipped deities, and is often called upon for help with issues such as healing, fertility, and protection.

Dehua porcelain is a type of white porcelain originally from Dehua, a city in Fujian province, China. The porcelain is often made from a type of clay known as “kaolin,” which is an extremely fine and white clay that is particularly suitable for making porcelain.

Dehua porcelain is known for its delicate beauty and fine craftsmanship, often adorned with subtle reliefs and intricate patterns. It is also known for its translucency and ability to reflect light, which gives it an elegant appearance.

The production of Dehua porcelain dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907), but it became especially popular during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). During these periods, Dehua porcelain was used for a wide range of objects, including vases, figurines, teapots, and tableware.

Today, Dehua porcelain is still produced and is highly valued worldwide as one of the highest forms of Chinese ceramics. Many people collect Dehua porcelain for its delicate beauty and high quality, and it is also often used as a decorative element in modern interiors.
