The pictures show an unusual small and shallow bowl from the late Ming dynasty, decorated in underglaze blue with longevity Shou characters and roundels depicting a wanderer in a landscape.
The interior is painted with a central medallion showing Shou Lao, the God of Longevity, riding on the back of a crane with outstretched wings, soaring among swirling clouds. Around the rim runs a decorative band of crashing waves interspersed with floating prunus blossoms.
The base bears a double-circle mark in underglaze blue.
