From my own collection I offer this impressive Antique print of the city of Tianjin, a nowadays metropolis in northern China and one of the five national central cities of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The city is named Tiencienwey in old Dutch and visited by Johan Nieuhof during his travel trough China between 1655 tot 1657. The Dutch VOC emisarry to the emperor travelled upriver from Macou & Canton Guangzhou passing several cities which were drawn up. It is a matter of good historical research to locate the city which is called Tianjin nowadays. According to the original manuscript of 1665 the city is:
– called Tiencin by some people
– one of the most important Seaports of China
– 120 ly from Singlo
– walls around the city are 25 feet high
– Always a lot of ships in the port because this was the first place they arrived after crossing the Ocean.
– a very rich city because of the numerous trades
A very interesting piece for collectors . It is an museum piece from the Dutch Institute of Oriental studies. This historically very valuable Print is in amazing condition, fully original, entirely complete. This is an excellent opportunity for a serious collector or an earnest dealer to get this impressive Print for an honest price. For reference see

Johan / Jan / Johannes Nieuhof / Nieuhoff / Neuhof (1618-1672) was a Dutch traveler who wrote about his journeys to Brazil, China and India. The most famous of these was a trip of 2,400 km from Canton to Peking in 1655-1657 as part of a Dutch envoy, which enabled him to become an authoritative Western writer on China. Johan Nieuhof was born in Uelsen, Germany, of which his father (originally from Zwolle) was mayor.
