Description
A very nice plate. In the style of Ming Kosometsuke wares. We believe this is a Japanese version from the 17th or 18th century. Edo period.
Scene of a figure carrying a bundle on a staff balanced across his shoulder. The subject is a scholar lightly clad and burdend only with his bundle of books travelling around to admire different creations of nature, no doubt living rough nd with no pressing problem to disturb his tranquility.
