Very nice ca 1740. Qianlong period plate.
Q6 NISBETT Qianlong c.1760 The arms are of Nisbett and painted, Argent an annulet between three boars heads couped sable; the crest, A boar’s head as in the arms (possibly intended for erased). James Nisbett was a Burgess of Glasgow and Deacon of the Guild of Wrights from 1726 to 1738. He married Eupham, daughter of the Revd. George Adam, Session Clerk of Glasgow Cathedral. His son, George, married in 1753 Margaret More, daughter of John More, 3rd of Cairnhill; their son John was 6th of Cairnhill and married in 1794 Jessie, daughter of Captain Neil MacArthur of Mavisbank, dying in 1796 leaving an only son, George More Nisbett of Cairnhill. There is another service, c.1775, with similar arms but without the annulet, illustrated in this volume (see P17). This service formerly illustrated in Volume 1 (1974) page 965
