Nicely made okimono/artifact of a Kingfisher bird.
Okimono (置物, oki-mono) is a Japanese term meaning “ornament for display; objet d’art; decorative object”, typically displayed in a tokonoma alcove or butsudan altar.
Kingfisher
There are several species of Kingfisher in that are all admired for their bright, iridescent plumage. The feathers have been used to create colorful artwork collages. The same character fěi is used for a type of green jade and probably from this it is a metaphor for the more showy forms of female beauty.
