Condition Report: fritting, restored section to the rim and 1 hairline. Size: 36x5.5CM DiameterxHeight
A large Chinese blue and white porcelain charger dating to the Kangxi period (1662–1722), Qing dynasty.
The interior is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with four flowering branches arranged around a central medallion containing a stylised floral spray and curling foliate motifs. Dark outlines and graduated blue washes give definition to the blossoms, leaves and angular branches.
The broad rim carries a continuous floral scroll, with large flowerheads, looping stems and curled leaves. A narrow outer border of reserved white flowers and diagonal strokes against a blue ground completes the design.
The reverse is decorated with three flowering sprigs.
Marked with a sacred mushroom
