A very nicely made dish with a beautiful decoration. Nice condition.
A beautiful example of Chinese export porcelain plates, decorated in underglaze blue with gold colour with a botanical image of flowers and tobacco plants, after an engraving by the famous Dutch botanist and artist Sybilla Merian. The central composition is surrounded by a decorated edge in a European baroque style. Merian was a remarkable woman, even for the 17th century Dutch Republic.
