Antique early 20th century Dutch Delft Iznik Style Earthenware Vase ca 1910

A beautiful bottle from De Porceleyne Fles dating from after 1910, part of the ‘Nieuw Delfts’ series, inspired by ceramics from the Middle and Near East (the Iznik style). The designs were created by Leon Senf. Characteristic of this intricate series are the warm tones—as opposed to traditional Delft blue—the crackle effect, and the flowing, blending of the glaze colors. This example features a tricolor palette of red, turquoise, and blue.
This spherical bottle has a thickened section below the mouth. The decoration is applied in vertically arranged panels in a symmetrical pattern. The larger panels feature elegant floral motifs, while the narrower panels are filled with dark blue, with turquoise scroll motifs reserved within.
