Condition Report: Base has a restuck piece, small piece of dogs ear missing, hand of figure missing. Some small frits/fleebites. Size 7CM high
A Shunzhi or Kangxi Blanc de Chine Porcelain figure kicking a dog. It is also a whistle.
Blanc de Chine Statues like these were made in the kilns of Dehua in Fujian province.
This is a rare example!
The piece has a hidden text on the base which can be seen with blacklight. It’s the postal code and house number of the place in Amsterdam where Merkelbach (or his later family) lived.
Provenance: From the collection of Clemens Merkelbach van Enkhuizen, A well known Dutch painter and artist from Amsterdam
Merkelbach van Enkhuizen lived in one of the canal houses in Amsterdam and was an avid collection of Asian art.
