Porcelain vase in red copper and decorated in grey tones with ‘the Zhaojun’s departure’ (昭君 出塞) – China, end of the 19th century
The Zhaojun’s departure is a story of China’s history. Wang Zhaojun, Ming Yu (son qiáng), the word Zhaojun was originally the name of the palace of Han palace.
In year 54 BC, the Huns destined Hu Hanxie to be defeated by his brother and they moved towards Guanglu, outside the Great Wall, with the Western Han Dynasty. After Wang Zhaojun had heard to talk of it, she asked for a kiss and a “pro”. After her arrival in Xiongnu, she was named ‘Ninghu Yushi’ (queen 氏, 音 焉 支, meaning queen), symbolising that she would bring peace, tranquillity and prosperity to the Xiongnu. Later on, Hu Hanxie was controlling the totality of the Xiongnu with the support of the western Han dynasty, thus allowing the Huns and the Han dynasty to remain in power for half a century. Later on, there were also works of art such as poetry, distortions, tragedies and television series based on this story.
