Ca 1700 Kangxi Period Chinese Porcelain Plate Pagode Garden Wanli Marked
Out of stock
Condition Report: / / Overall Condition 1 frit/small chip to rim and some firing flaw in base. Size 210x30mm
A blue and white plate decorated with a central scene of two elegant ladies in a courtyard, the border with four panels of flowers between swastika shading. Marked to the back with the six character mark for Wanli within a double circle. The mark to the back is obviously apocryphal and this practice is not unusual on plates of this period destined for export to the West. The particular reign mark for Wanli however is highly unusual. The Chenghua reign mark is by far the most popular, followed at some distance by Xuande and indeed the correct reign mark for the period: Kangxi. Wanli reign marks on Kangxi porcelain is very rare. Ca 1690-1710
Absolute top quality porcelain and painting.
