In the center an Orange tree in a tub and a banderole with the inscription ‘VI VA ORANJE’. The exclamation VIVA ORANGE first appears on orangist ceramics around 1670-1680. The original dishes from Delft have a dating around 1750-1780 and were produced in support of Prince William IV (1711-1751). At the birth of Princess Juliana on April 30, 1909, this plate was copied by the Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland. For further information on this subject see D.F. Lunsingh Scheurleer, Orange on earthenware, from William the Silent to Queen Beatrix, Lochem, 1994.

This particular dish in the listing is a French copy of the Dutch Delftware, around 1900.
