Large Ming Dynasty Zhangzhou (Swatow) Ware Charger – c.1600 – Red, Green & Turquoise Enamels
An exceptional and richly decorated large Zhangzhou (Swatow) ware charger, dating to the early 17th century (circa 1600). This heavy and generously sized piece showcases the vibrant overglaze palette typical of this export porcelain, featuring iron red, emerald green, and turquoise enamels.
The central scene is beautifully painted with a scholar figure walking along a bridge in a traditional landscape of trees, pavilions, and boats. The border is adorned with alternating cartouches and red seal script motifs, adding visual depth and classic Ming flair.
