Sharing with you this nice and larger sized dish from the early 17th century, 1630-1640. Kosometsuke porcelain for the Japanse market.
The dish measures 30.4 cm in diameter and is of octagonal shape. Decorated in underglaze blue with a scholar passing a fence in a landscape followed by his servant who is holding what probably is Qin, a stringed Musical instrument. Also, some of the boys in the border appear to be holding finger cymbals…so that fits with the Musical theme.. On the border dancing boys near a fence. On the reverse flower scrolls. Some reference in the books of similar dishes added in the pictures.
