Condition Report: Overall Condition Upper part restored, 1 basket pole is restuck and part of the holder between the poles also. Size 170x80mm HxD
This is a rare and unusual Japanese Satsuma Basket vase from the Meiji Period (1868-1911). It is superbly decorated with a finely detailed Japanese landscape in gold on black background with also Grape vines. The vase is signed on the base. Satsuma-ware derives its name from the region of Satsuma, Japan, where the style of porcelain and ceramic works originated. This beautiful piece is overall in outstanding display condition.
