Condition Report: 1 chip to the rim and some very minimal fritting. Also 1 hairline in base with small sideline which is also partly visible at the front. Size:
Sharing with you this fantastic small dish from the Jiajing period.
Front (interior decoration)

In the central roundel:
A flowering chrysanthemum spray with leaves and stems. Chrysanthemums are one of the “Four Gentlemen” in Chinese art (alongside plum, orchid, and bamboo), symbolizing autumn, resilience, and longevity. -
Around the inner wall:
The cavetto is divided into panels containing alternating motifs of flowers and insects (butterflies). The butterflies flying among flowers symbolize joy, beauty, and a wish for long life.
Back (exterior decoration)

The outer wall is also divided into panels, each filled with stylized flowers and foliage scrolls, a very typical Ming decorative layout.

In the center of the base:
There is a four-character mark in underglaze blue inside a double circle. 嘉靖年製, Jiajing nian zhi “Made in the Jiajing reign”.
