Chinese Ming Blue White Large Plate 15th 16th Century Zhengde Hongzhi Flying Dragon Antique
Out of stock
Condition Report: Condition: Restored, was in half and two filled chips. Also a restored chip to rim. Size: 31x6CM DiameterxHeight
A very beautiful and delicately potted Ming Dynasty large plate, dating to the Hongzhi (1488–1505) or Zhengde (1506–1521) period — possibly even slightly earlier.
Painted in underglaze blue, the bowl features a beautiful dragon as central scene.
This piece displays the type of gentle form and soft blue wash often associated with early Southeast Asian trade wares, and is stylistically similar to bowls excavated from the famous Lena Shoal shipwreck, a late 15th-century junk discovered near the Philippines.
