Sharing with you this very nice edo period example, ca 1680-1700.
The centre is painted in underglaze blue with a mountainous river landscape, featuring a tall waterfall, rocky outcrops, trees and buildings nestled among the hills. A small figure stands near a waterside pavilion. Fine outlines, stippled details and graduated blue washes give depth to the scene.
The broad rim carries a continuous landscape of mountains, water, trees and scattered buildings, separated from the central composition by concentric blue lines.
The reverse is decorated with trailing floral branches and blue rings around the foot. The glazed base is unmarked and retains visible kiln-support traces. A metal wall-hanging mount is fitted across the reverse.
