A very nicely decorated set of 5 large plates. Dating to circa 1700-1720
A scene of pine tree, linghzi fungus and rocks. A great birthday present with wishes for an old age, longevity and endurance.

Emblem of longevity, hardness and durability.
Pine
Pine – Song – symbol of endurance and longevity. The favorite tree of Chinese painters. Pine trees rank above all other trees and epitomizes self-discipline and steadfastness. In Daoism its twisted stem and bransches are admired as their patterns reminds of the twistings of the life forces. The plum tree, pine, and bamboo are the “Three Friends in Winter”.
Fungus
(Sacred – lingzhi) – immortality and longevity.
