Condition Report: dish with 2 firing flaws, 2 or 3 fleebites/frits to rim and star hairline in base. Cup with 3 or 4 firing bubbles in the outside wall and 3 frits/fleebites to rim. Size: 12.4x2 and 8.6x4.2CM Diameter
Sharing with you this lovely tea set in Blue and white. Very thinly potted porcelain, the light shines trough.
Kangxi period piece in underglaze blue. With a garden scene of elegant ladies with dogs.
Both pieces bear a central mark to the base: the character “壽” (shòu), meaning “longevity”, enclosed in double circles. This auspicious symbol, frequently used on scholar’s wares and export porcelain, suggests the piece was made for personal or overseas appreciation.
Provenance: From the inventory of an old Antique Shop from Amsterdam that stopped operating in the 1980’s. Thence by decent in the family.
