Sharing with you this fantastic Chinese Porcelain teacup and saucer.
Truncated cone shaped cup, with slightly everted rim, and short inward sloping foot, and saucer of the small sweet dish type; both pieces have a crenulated lip and are moulded with shallow flutes. The decoration is very simplified in underglaze blue. The saucer has a central medallion with a river scene, a human figure, houses and trees. The concave surface of the saucer is divided into twelve panels alternately wide and narrow, the narrow ones are filled with a diamond pattern; in the larger ones diametrically opposite in pairs, is a large human figure, a fisherman with a line under a weeping willow, and a fisherman with a net also under a willow. The outer surface of the cup is divided into eight panels, alternating in a pattern of diamonds with the first two decorative motifs as previously described on the concave surface of the saucer. At the bottom, there is a medallion with a river scene, a human figure, trees, and a pagoda.
