Museum Piece Ming Chongzhen Shunzi 17th C Chinese Porcelain Mustard Jar
In stock
Condition Report: Lid with fritting and 1 chip to inside rim. Jar with some fritting and firing flaws. Size: 15x11CM HeightxDiameter
What you see here is a transitional Shunzhi or Chongzhen period mustard jar, decorated with a beautiful scene of scholars enjoying the peace and tranquility of a landscape. The central figure is likely a Daoist immortal standing on a leaf, symbolizing transcendence and harmony with nature.
It is a very classic design: a European-shaped mustard jar decorated with a distinctly Chinese scene. A lovely example from the transitional period.
Provenance: Dutch Private Collection
