Condition Report: Perfect. Size 170x170mm DiameterXHeight

Interesting tureen. Rather unusual palette of enamels. The decoration has clear links to that seen on Straits wares with the peony and double phoenixes. The colour palette bears relation to what in some books on straits porcelain is described as 19th c Arita ware in Kakiemon enamel. There is a theory in which after the Taiping Rebellion when Jingdezhen was destructed Japanese porcelain painters were employed in Jingdezhen taking with them their techniques and style. No idea if this is true.
