China, blue and white jar/ tea caddy Kangxi period.

The barrel-shaped jar with a smaller, low, circular cover is painted with a scene of two beautiful Chinese women playing the board game Go next to some rocks. The cover has the figure
of a dancer, with long sleeves. At the time of their manufacture, these small jars were used to hold leaf tea and shortly after they were copied in whole in Delft. Tea became an
important supplement of social etiquette from the second half of the 17th century on and demand rose sharply in the period for vessels for its secure storage. Smaller wares in particular were often decorated with simple scenes of beautiful women and dancers, complemented with sketched natural scenery, which the Chinese porcelain painters minimized into the form of a few
brushstrokes.

With a nice artemesia mark at the base.
